Marketing for roofing companies

A roof is the most expensive thing most homeowners will ever buy from a trade, and they buy it in a hurry, usually after a leak or a storm, from whoever they can reach and trust in the same afternoon. Marketing for a roofer is about being the name that appears, looks legitimate, and answers, in that order.

How the work is won

Two kinds of customer. The first has water coming through the ceiling and wants somebody on the roof today; they search once, call the top of the map pack, and go with the first company that picks up and can come out. The second is planning a replacement, often with an insurance claim or a home sale behind it; they get three quotes, read every review, and check the licence. Both start on Google, and both decide largely on what your profile and your site show them before they ever speak to you.

What they type

  • roof repair near me
  • roofer [town]
  • roof leak repair [town]
  • roof replacement cost [town]
  • roofing companies [town] reviews
  • emergency roof tarp

The calls that matter

The leak call is the one that pays for everything and the one most likely to be missed, because it comes in while the crew is on a roof and nobody can pick up. A homeowner with water in the living room does not leave a voicemail; they call the next name. Replacement enquiries are slower but they come through forms and profile messages as often as calls, and an owner who answers those a day later has usually lost the quote to somebody who answered in an hour.

The season

In Florida the year turns on the storm season. After a named storm every roofer in the map pack gets more calls than they can handle for weeks, and the ones that book the work are the ones whose profile was already ranking, whose reviews were already recent, and whose phone answered itself while the owner was on a roof. The quiet months are for replacements and for building the profile and the reviews that the season will run on. A roofer who starts marketing in August has already missed it.

What proof wins the job

  • Licence number and insurance shown where the customer can find it in five seconds
  • Before-and-after photos of whole roofs, not close-ups of shingles, with the town named
  • Recent reviews that mention the leak being fixed or the replacement being finished on time
  • Manufacturer certifications and warranty terms in plain words
  • A photo of the actual crew and trucks, so the company looks like it exists

Where the leads leak

  • The profile lists roofing but not repair, so the urgent searches go to a competitor
  • Missed calls during the day with no text back, which in this trade is the whole job gone
  • Form enquiries answered the next morning, after the homeowner has already booked two other quotes
  • No town pages, so the business ranks in its home town and nowhere else it drives to
  • Reviews that stopped a year ago, which reads as a company that stopped too

What we run first for roofers

  1. 01
Google Business Profile setup and optimization

Repair and replacement as separate services, the service area drawn to every town you cover, and storm-season posts ready to go.

  2. 02
    Speed to lead

The leak call gets a text back in under a minute while you are on a roof. This alone changes a roofer's month.

  3. 03
    Review generation

A request after every completed job, so the profile shows recent work when the storm searches start.

  4. 04
    Websites built to convert

A page for repair, a page for replacement, a page per town, licence and insurance on every one of them.

  5. 05
    Meta ads management

Replacement and inspection offers to homeowners in your towns ahead of the season, and storm-response campaigns ready to switch on.

Questions roofers ask us

Should we run ads during storm season?

Usually, and they should be ready before it. Search demand after a storm is so high that the map pack does most of the work; ads are for the towns where you are not yet ranking and for keeping your name in front of homeowners deciding between quotes. The mistake is switching them on after the storm with a profile that is not ready to convert.

We get plenty of calls in season. What is the point of marketing?

The season fills your calendar for six weeks. The question is what fills it for the other forty-six, and whether the season's calls actually get answered. Most roofers we look at are missing a large share of their in-season calls and have no replacement pipeline in the quiet months. Both are fixable.

Do you work with storm chasers?

No. We work with roofers who are in their towns all year, because the profile, the reviews, and the town pages all depend on a real local presence. A business that follows the weather cannot build any of them.
